About Us
Health Professional and Community Education
At SHS we think that continued education for health professionals is essential in order to provide excellent quality care. Our doctors and staff are always busy attending and even presenting at conferences and seminars. We also hold an annual medical seminar called IMED for local GPs and healthcare professionals in the Illawarra. This event is usually held in June. We love having the opportunity to provide education to the medical community, the general community and of course our patients. If you would like to host an educational seminar in our practice or there is a topic you'd like to see presented, please contact our practice manager.
Our Clinic
We are located on the corner of Underwood Street and Collins Street in Corrimal, north of Wollongong in the Illawarra. Entrance to the building is via the car park on Collins Street and Southern Healthcare Specialists is on the first floor. We share the building with Confident Healthcare, the dental surgery on the ground floor. Our specialists are paediatricians, sleep and respiratory physicians, psychiatrists, neurologists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists. Our goal is to bring excellent specialist medical care to our community in the Illawarra. We will always go the extra mile for our patients and assist in anyway we can.

Emily completed her Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) from the University of Wollongong with a research focus on dietary prevention of chronic disease. She has presented her research findings at the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition conference in Melbourne and had her work published in the Journal of Lipid

Emily completed her Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) from the University of Wollongong with a research focus on dietary prevention of chronic disease. She has presented her research findings at the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition conference in Melbourne and had her work published in the Journal of Lipid Research and the Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine. Emily spent several years working in research and development in Europe before joining the team at Southern Healthcare Specialists as a sleep technician. She has a special interest in working with children with sensory processing disorder and autism and enjoys being part of the dedicated and close-knit team at Southern Healthcare Specialists.

She has a keen interest in medical diagnostics and is involved in all of our diagnostic testing services here at Southern Healthcare Specialists including our sleep services, respiratory testing, allergy testing and EEG’s. Jessica has a keen eye for detail and is always working hard to collect the highest quality data for our patients. Matty completed his Bachelor of Health Science (Sport & Exercise) at Western Sydney University. He is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Cardiac Physiology/Graduate Diploma of Echocardiography at CQU with the aim of becoming a qualified Cardiac Sonographer.

Matty had spent time previously working in the health industry as a Bone Densitometry Technologist before joining the team at Southern Healthcare Specialists to expand his knowledge of health. He is well versed in both Sleep and Respiratory diagnostics, currently conducting sleep studies and respiratory tests. Matty has a strong interest in cardiac health and pathology, sports, and presents himself as an adaptable, easy-going, and friendly staff member.
