Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

What do I do if I need a new script?

What do I do if I need a new script?

Yes, you will need a referral to see any of our paediatricians or access the paediatric services. Referrals from specialists last for 3 months and GP referrals last for 12 months. Medicare does not allow us to accept referrals from Allied Health.

What do I do if I need a new script?

Your pharmacist will notify you when your last script is being dispensed. At this time you should call to make an appointment with your paediatrician to have new scripts written. We strongly advice to call us in advance as the doctor can only issue a script if they are present in the clinic and the script is required to be picked up in person. Alternatively, if the script is not an authority script, your GP can renew the scripts for you. Call us if you are unsure if your script requires authority.

What are the fees?

What is the cancellation policy?

As we are a private specialist clinic we don't bulk bill so there will be an out of pocket for your child's appointment. The fees differ between services so please call us on 4252 7333 for further information.

What is the cancellation policy?

Do I need an appointment for results?

What is the cancellation policy?

Due to the high demand and long wait times for appointments with our paediatricians, OT and speech pathologist we require confirmation of attendance 48 hours in advance. This allows us to book another child on our waiting list in if you can't attend. We will first send out a text message and then call, and email in order to obtain confirmation. If we don't receive a response to confirm your appointment, your allocated time may be given to another child on the emergency wait list. Our OT and speech pathologist also require that a cancellation fee be paid if given less than 24 hours notice.

We will then get in touch with you with their response or they may call you themselves. If the matter is urgent please contact our practice manager at practicemanager@shsmedical.com.au
